Help! I'm trying to go about purchasing my first landy, but I can't find a guide to compare the price to. I'm looking at a 1990 defender 110 with a 3.5l V8. Its a 12 seater, and has about 120,000mi on it. It has some minor body rust(confined mainly to the underside of the drivers door)and a little bit of bubbling in the paint around the windows. It's going for 3995. Does this seem reasonable?

Is it a private sale or from a garage? What extras does it have? what is the general condition? does it have full service history? Do you have any pics?
 
For that money it needs to be spot on with absolutely nothing wrong with it. The potential for it costing you another small fortune is always there in a vehicle of that age. You've got to look past the cosmetics and/or flashy accessories and find out if the important bits such as the chassis, bulkhead, engine and drivetrain are good. Then think of suspension, steering, bodywork etc. A lot of little jobs can end up as a hefty bill even if the basics are ok.

mate bought a sound V8 90 SW of that age with LPG with half the mileage for 3k. But that was around 12months ago. Prices should be alot lower now.

seeing as you need to have a pre 1995 licence to drive a csw with 12 seats it aint worth squat.Like I said £1500 is bout right.
A 90 will always fetch more.

Agree with yer on the price but some people have got a proper driving licence so can't see that affectin the price too much. I can't be doing with station wagons meself if you want that stuff get a disco:D
 
yes that sounds a lot to me and if you dont need all the seats if seven will do get yourself a 7 seater disco much more comfortable than a defender better to drive and ride i got a jap import auto 97 300tdi 64000 on clock and it drives like new and with no rust whatsoever for under 2k and remember a v8 likes a drink "alot and often".

he mite not need all rhe seats but might want the rear load space,and the int much a that in a disco!the wifes got a disco and the boot space is pittyfully crap!i want her to av a 110 county but she sez its t big,wen in reality its smaller than a 110!

hi how is a 110 county smaller than a110? I thought county was a trim spec?
 
All the space is taken up by them fookin seats. A 110 hardtop's got loads of room in the back and less doors to rot away while yer back's turned.

thats my hole point about the wife not wanting one!yu ****.also she thinks i'll be jackin it up n puttin big tyres n a rollcage on it like mi 90.
 
so your arguing with the wife about swapping vehicles that are nearly 5m long on the basis of 18mm? are you a rivet counter? Im sure there are better things to be arguing about. lke who is cooking dinner etc.

dont do arguin at or house!she wanted a td5 disco and i said no chance,but she could have a nice 300tdi 110 county the reply was am not havin one cos they to big!so she has got t keep the 300 disco until its dead!and thes never any doubt whos cookin cos shes the expert in that department.
