Hi. I have had my current Disco for 5 months now and it was not until a month ago I realised it had no Roof Rails.

I am quite pleased with this as I dont need them, and on my last Disco they looked a little nasty as the black coating was flaking off leaving the powdery ally on show in parts. Also one less place to leak (or 4 less places realy)

But mine is an ES model and after looking at loads of pictures of ES 300Tdi Disco's I have not found another witout the bars.

Was it an option to delete them from the factory?

Thanks mate......

Makes me feel all warm inside knowing you think of me like that... :D

if your eally worried you could always get some and fit em.

mine aint got any either, nowt special about it - apart from it's magical ability to turn to rust if you turn your back on it.

Hahahaha sorry didn't mean that sort of special, as nice as you possibly are im sure your not my type :D.

But we must all be kinda special on re cos we drive landys no normal sain person would do that :D

I do feel special when i'm driving me landy. :)

I was just curious as I have not seen any others without them.

Now I know they come without I will look out for this on my next Discovery. I prefer the look without them. :)

A D1 300 ES without roof rails is not normal :) they were not an option but a standard fitment.
So do you have a genuine ES disco? wood dash, leather 8 way electric heated seats, heated screen, multi CD player, front foglamps etc.

are you blind, stumpy or has someone pinched them????

Mine is a genuine ES, but an earlier one without most of that...:p

Not something I ever looked at, and as I dont generally wash it I did not notice.

Then one day I wanted to look at the sunroofs from above and made a grab for the rails to help me up only to find they were missing....:lol:

The ES arived in 1995 with twin air bags a/c and ABS as standard in 1996 it came the 8 way electric seats. so what model year is your ES then?

mine must be pretty unusual it was built in 97 as a v8 auto and shipped to Malaysia right at the start of the fuel crisis from records from land rover i have found out it was shipped back unsold and used as a test bed for the td5 then in 99 it had a 300TDI manual fitted and owed by land rover for 3 yrs.
The only clues to this on the motor are front and rear AC and the foot rest next to the clutch and the vin plate still states v8 auto but all the numbers match, that was the reason i contacted LR in the first place.
