hi guys i have a chance of buying a fairly decent freelander of my sister its the 2.0 diesel 3 door but it does have a few problems just wondered is it worth the hassle as im not mechanicaly minded . the two front windows dont work . the heater works but you have to drive to london and back from south wales before they get warm . also the handle to open the tailgate is off now i can but it for 250 pounds as she has just bought a new one its always been serviced and just had new tyres that cost 250 so basicaly im paying for the tyres does anyone know how much the few jobs mentioned will cost to get repaired as money is a little tight at the moment thanks all

bargin

new rear handle 100
2 new door regulators about 100 each
and what sounds like a thermostat is needed only a few £
buy a haynes manual and you can do the work yourself following the instructions

thanks mate do you have any idea what it would cost to repair
it has got 5mts mot and tax till end of april

if you fixed it all u could sell it for about £1000 easy or keep it for yourself

the prices are just estimates as ebay lists kits to repair the window regs or the ones i found are 88 for a new one plus the windows right now can wait as its winter my handle came off and i did a repair to it using pop rivets not great but feels stronger than my mates with a new handle on

but a manual and a basic tool kit is all you need for these jobs

I had to change the rear door handle a few months ago because I leant it to my brother in law and it came back with the handle hanging off! Cheers mate :p any way it was a **** easy job :)

lads thank you all for the comments im in south wales rhondda valleys im going to go for it as the price is cheap enough thank you again

If you can, fit four new tyres at once and the then rotate them every 3000 miles as this will give you very even tread wear.

Are you up for a bit of hassle? If not, then leave it alone:)

Drive it over to Bell Engineering (not far from you just up the M50) and get them to test the IRD and VCU. If those parts are ok then you will have bagged the bargain of the century.
