It's my 1995 4.0 P38: The stuff in my centre console (radio, Air con, heaters, cigarette lighter etc) have all gone dead. It seems to be the stuff feeding off fuse 8 underseat, but the fuse itself is OK. Underbonnet looks ok & battery power ok too. Does this mean my becu is the cause? Are thewre any diagnostic tests that could narrow it down, or has it happened to yours? Any advice gratefully received

Check fuse number 1 as well and replace both anyway just incase there is a slight break in the fuse that you havent spotted

Is it possible to hard wire aircon/hevac power on to avoid replacement of a possibly dodgy BECM. I'm a bit out of my depth when I look inside the BECM box, and dont want to donate another £700+ to the old charity case.

Not sure about hard wiring but if you're getting to that point it may be worth taking the console out and checking all the connections in the back of the HEVAC unit. I think one of the connectors provides power for all items. I had the same issue when I put my car back together just turned out to be one of the plugs not seated properly.

Hi
It turned out to be a BECM fault. I bought a second hand one from someone on EBay, and got it reprogrammed by sending it and my old one to a company in Brighton (they advertise on Ebay too). The replacement is then a simple job of connecting up all the plugs. Works fine again, but the total bill will be £300-£450. Still dont understand why it has to be this complicated.
