Hey I have a 300tdi disco and I did have the Noisey tensioner puller for a while and some 1 told me not to worry and I didn't as it was only on tick over and wasn't loud but now it's getting louder like the belt is sliping but if I spray wd40 on to the tensioner pully it stops for about 5mins then the noise comes back while driveing.
Realy does sound like the belt but strange how it stops when I spray wd40 on the tensioner pully.
Belt looks all fine and is tight.
Is it easy to change the belt and tensioner pully??

I'd say its the pully bearing, the belt is very easy to change plenty of threads on here as for the pully you can change the bearing or the whole thing. Have a look on ebay

Just make sure you get the right belt, as I just found out there were more than 1 length after trying to fit one for 2 hrs.

Sorry I also shud of look around first as have just found about the penny trick to stop the noise.
Will be fitting a new bearing and will do the penny trick,

Defo the bearing in the tensioner pulley mate i just done mine it was squealing like a pig i also had changed the belt first as looked in a bad way but still had the noise, not now tho, although now i done all that car is off road having minor welding surgery lol

Just to go off on a tangent slightly. At first glance at this thread title I thought it was named Is it my belt or my willy?. Made me chuckle anyway. What is the Penny Trick by the way?.

Also while I remember, be careful if spraying wd40 onto greased parts for a continued period as it will cause the grease to break down and dry out. Lock smith told me that years ago.

I have done the penny trick and it has worked a treat :)
Still got the bearing and belt ordered just in case

I'm glad you sorted it.

Just for anyone else reading this with issues, it's worth a belt change if you get any noises as it could be an early warning.

I have been getting some chirping/squeaking from, what I thought was the pulley for a while. Then the other day I was a few minutes into a journey and the alternator light came on and the steering went stiff, the belt had snapped and gone.

Luckily I carry an old one as a spare and once changed the engine was quiet again.

If you change a belt don't chuck the old one, find a space in the boot to store it, a landy driver should always keep a box of basic tools and spares like this with them. ;)
