I first encountered landyzone 10 years ago. Being totally green with the generation of cars like my P38 I benefitted enormously from the knowledge gleaned. By necessity, I contributed little or nothing. I'm grateful to this day. However, is it me or is a visit to this forum a much more refreshing and enjoyable experience than my early approaches? Posts and threads seem, by and large, to have a hearty courteous and pleasant ring about them. Perhaps it is just me. Best regards all. Peter.

No it's not just me. Even posting daft questions doesn't generate an avalanche of abuse in the guise of banter. Refreshing.

I bought my P38 thor feb., 2007. It was just 5 years old. I knew it was a pile of junk but, as the P38's had gone out production and the L322's were in I got it at a price I couldn't turn down. It was a westminster, might even be the last off the line. I'd done similar exercise with an MGB 25years beforehand. Totally green, I put a short engine in, new airbags, stainless exhaust, shockers, discs, calipers and pads and LPG. No diagnostics just nail everything on and away. I got away with it for ten years. A caravan trip through UK, France down to Costa Tropical, Spain taught me a firm, alarming lesson. Scanning my posts will reveal the saga and the continuance on my return till now. To reiterate I'd fallen out with forums, not just Landyzone as there was a fashion for threads to deteriorate to namecalling at best and downright bullying at worst. Threads which were started inocuously by ignoramae by and large. In Spain I was stuck big time. I recontacted Landyzone and received a sympathetic constructive and immediate response. If we're going overkill on the sentiment then Landyzone took a thorn out of my paw and I've followed it everywhere ever since. I still think that "social networking"- so called has a tendency towards painfullness, but in spite of me coming unstuck big time even at my own hands the patience shown me has been more than a help over my demise. I try my best to show my gratitude following each attempt to get me out of trouble, but, it feels insignificant in the light of the amount I've benefitted. There must be names on here that can recall the days to which I allude. There are, more to the point, names that attend online perhaps even taking for granted the spirit and attitude of the contributors.
I've had my hand held through:
Headlining replacement including sun roof in and out; Air conditioning overhaul; ABS overhaul; Dash in and out -blend motors heater matrix etc.;Transmission noise diagnosis; serpentine and components'noise; EAS overhaul;towing electrics. All through this, on reflection, I would've been laughed out of town elsewhere on account of my ignorance, inexperience and at times downright stupidity. Not here.
I just thought you should know.
It says "feedback". Well, that's my feedback.
God only knows how to contribute/donate.
Very best regards, all.
Peter.

when I first visited the site, without doubt I was helped along the way with some technical issues. For sure as an older mechanic you can muddle through but experience is invaluable. But I initially got some abuse that I quickly realised was just 'banter'. So I then stared delivering it! I did manage to upset one guy who has now stopped talking with me but hey ho! If I give 'banter' I am always very tongue in cheek so no nastiness is ever meant! this is a great site and I would love to make a donation as we for one get lots of fun from it.

Heh, I've asked some truly stupid questions and given some truly stupid answers, and my heart is on my sleeve for all to see. If I've had a bad day and something 'gets' to me I occasionally rip the piss out of someone or can be nasty .. :)

None of my nastiness is meant harshly, it's how I feel right at that moment and it's usually what I'd say right to someone's face, if they are offended or don't like it, then it doesn't matter, I've done it and can't take it back!

Mind, when I've had a good day I also try to show it, I'll answer questions, put answers up that are good and informative (I think) and generally just get along .. :)

I don't hold grudges either, so might rant at someone one day and offer them help the next ...

Overall I love it 'here' ... I use Facebook and stuff and other forums, but LZ feels like home, with both friends and not friends ...
