I did mine with one of the Clarke impact guns shown above. Need an extension and a very good fitting 6 sided socket. Maximum push against the nut and pull the trigger whilst sending out a small prayer!!
with a thin head grinding the chamfer away from a suitable socket is a better optionThanks Gents,
The sockets I am using are Draper expert but there is a little give in them... does a good fit socket require buying a new socket ?

It might be worth dropping the subframe. It's only a few bolts and pretty easy to do.Yeah comes with 1/2 drive, tried it tonight but just can’t get a decent swing at it with lump hammer.
Going to take off drivers side front wheel and try a breaker bar, or a jack, almost out of options!!!
Help !

Nice one mate. Well done and thanks for the tip.! FINALLY GOT IT OFF !
Steps:
1. Park Landy around 3 foot from a wall you can lean against;
2. Loosen nuts on drivers side front wheel;
3. Jack up and place stands at jack locations for max height;
4. Remove drivers side front wheel, place under car;
5. Get a mate willing to crawl back first under Landy
6. Hand him small wrench WITH ANGLE FITTING as shown;
7. When he has socket FIRMLY in place on filler cap, and with wrench rotated to face ALMOST VERTICALLY;
8. Slowly slide steel pipe (aluminum is fine) in through gap in drivers wheel arch until it sits on wrench handle;
9. Now leaning against the wall, place heel of a good boot at end of hollow pipe, then once mate has good grip on base of wrench, slowly apply pressure with leg to push pipe in against the wrench;
10. Wrench presents pressure but nothing your leg won’t handle, it quickly releases (feels like you rounded it but you won’t
Job done! Now get under again, drain, replace drain plug and washers, close to 35 Nm, level car, squeeze under and fill with a pump (laser do a good one), fill slowly until oil begins overflowing. Hand tighten new filler plug with new washer, get up cleaned down and bring mate for few well earned pints!
Next day refit props and you’ve a new motor
Thanks for all your support lads and lassies, good job!
Incidentally land rover have a tool part
LRT-41-021 (filler cap wrench) which looks like could be easier solution but not in their catalogue - my dealer is checking with their service dept for one
