Hi, the IRD takes a 75/90w oil, to specification API GL5 & takes approx 1.1 litres. There is a drain plug & filler/level plug. PLEASE DO NOT drain the old oil out UNTIL you have removed the filler/level plug as the plugs are made of very soft metal & round off very easily & if you drain the oil first then can't get the filler/level plug out you'll be stuck with an IRD you can't put oil in (use only a single sided socket to remove the plugs). I haven't got any pictures of the plug(s) location but someone on here will have or do a search on here because it's probably been posted before.Hello.
What is the oil for the IRD and what is the quantity?
Is it the same for the gearbox?
And I am trying to find how and where is the plug , I guess there isn't any draining plug?
Many Thanks
I've not used that before so as I'm going to do the IRD & auto box shortly I'll pick some up, what do you recommend for the Jacto box ? Cheers. As above, but the IRD is a hard working component, so 75w90 fully synthetic is the oil to use.
I use this.

one last question
the ird and the gearbox share the same oil or are separated?
Many thanks
80w90 IIRC.What kind of oil you advise for the gearbox?
Yes, but make sure you remove the filler plug before the drain, as sometimes the filler plug won't come out, which then leaves you with an empty IRD.is the drain plug the one on the red circle?
