didn't realise in super extended suspension height , body to floor clearance is nearly 16 inches and to the top of the wheel arches is nearly 36. inches

it was only in the main street in Winfarthing norfolk had the defenders down the road the freelander, l200, discovery 2 and a navara up and down the street after we used the canoes first . Don't ask me how the vehicles are still working now but they are going strong although my friend blewup his freelander the otherday got stuck in a deep mud run and gearbox went pop clutch is fine but oh well more spare parts just got the turbo issue on mine at the moment from when i bought it but managed the difficult part eventually bloody turbos in difficult places. anyone got a roof rack on their hippo that is a good one. andneed some help with sunroof they say the cable has broken help!!

hi mate ,
how the hell did u mate blow his gearbox up,would have thought the clutch will be destroyed if he's given it so much stick , or maybe the pressure plate
that is indeed the restriction of them, lack of height , no diff lock or low transfer box and can easily bottom them out , can't always straddle deep ruts as u can simply just slide into them and ur stuck cause it's bottoms out
when the terrain has very deep ruts they simply can't follow the bigger landies , bigger tyres do help to a certain degree , traction is very good on them,
u wouldn't ever complain if u saw what it takes to remove the turbo on mine, lol
hope things are going well with the hippo, what work u got planned

breath , don't get so stressed, lol, it's called banter between @biketeacherdave and i, blimey make sure the likes of @Nig doesn't see this,
within the land rover world they were designed as soft off roaders and got the name gaylander or hairdresser cars a long while back , they will never loose that name, so i'm afraid being an owner of one u will have to get used to it being called that and ur leg pulled
alas they do have a restricted height clearance they can't keep up with the larger land rovers , not saying there not capable but when there's deep ruts etc they will just bottom out , not having low / high box they do alas have there restrictions , vcu system works very well and the freelander was the first to have the hdc
that's some achievement taking one through 3 foot of water , at least it gave the fishpond in the boot a wash out, lol , ur braver than me that's for sure, i wouldn't take mine through deep water , don't fancy a 5k bill for a new engine
plus don't forget no piccies it didn't happen, lol
surprised the doors don't come off with it getting that wet,
they drive very well on the road, comfortable , within the land rover range there at the bottom for capability
u will find the forum a great place to be and make good friends, but u will need a thick skin, it never personal just banter

most likely preferred the hippo as u step down into one where the higher classed land rovers to step up

ur right , i don't regret selling the hippo ,
max wading depth of a hippo i believe is 18 inches , heard u know the doors are suppose to fall off when they get wet
Unlike a Disco....or of course a Defender
absolutely, as they are indeed the grown up versions, wading depth on mine is 28 inches and assume the fenders are the same
plus not forgetting u can tow some proper weight with a disco of fender
