Thank you for letting me join your forum my name is mark and i have just purchased a 2004 TD4 HSE iv never had a land rover before but since iv had it im well impressed with it i have a small issue with black smoke and running a bit rich but im sure when a friend put a test on it it turns out to be a fuel pressure switch so fingers crossed this is the issue. But while we were testing the car I found the pushed down buy the battery can anyone tell me what it is please .[GALLERY=]

It's not an old tracker or something is it? It doesn't look like any of the trackers I have put in but it doesn't look like a LR part either

Thanks for the reply tom1979 I just don' t no it wasn' coupled up to anything just cable tied to the battery leads and the box dropped down the side of the battery and the lead was just dropped in the engine bay

Maybe open it up and have a look inside, might give a clue to what it does or did

Yes all I can see it that is has an amplifier and some sort of 8-bit 16kb flash memory chip which seems to be used in alarms

I went to land rover dealers today they say it's a device used to save fuel you put it on the fuel sensor and it sends a message to th ecu to run more efficient to save fuel or something like that

Really! I have NEVER heard of that. I would post in the freelander section they’ll know all about it if that’s right

Or do you mean an aftermarket thing?
