Hello, I am trying to learn more about land rovers from those who know them best, which is the reason I chose to join this forum.

I am 15 years old, and living near Liverpool. My name is Jacob, and I am the proud owner of a 1982 Land Rover Series 3 88". This Landy is my pride and joy, and I am currently trying to improve it in any way possible. However, I am endeavouring to keep this Solihull classic as original as possible and I want to keep it exactly how it would have been 32 years ago. This vehicle was used mostly for agriculture, and was often found with several foxes in the back when the farmer returned from his shoot! However, it was also used to transport soldiers up a tricky hill because (inevitably) no other vehicle was suitable for the job!

Having bought my Land Rover in the September of 2013, and constantly doing paper-rounds to fund my gas (and money!) guzzling project. I was very keen on collecting various military memorabilia. Now, I have a brilliant military Battle Damage Repair trailer (3/4 tonne Sankey Communications trailer). This was given to me by a fellow Land Rover owner, as he knew I was going to have more use from restoring it.

Nowadays, my fully taxed and MOT'd Land Rover and a converted camping BDR trailer are used for attending shows, green laning and 'tinkering' on! I understand that it's mostly Dads who seem to drag their sons around Land Rover shows, in this case it's me who drags my poor dad around shows and green lanes!

Obviously, being a 'younger-than-usual' Land Rover restoration enthusiast, I don't know as much about these great vehicles than the like-minded people in this forum.

I believe that every Land Rover has a story... How couldn't they, when some are over double my age?! I would love to know, if possible, if I could find any more history about my Land Rover, and would be grateful to hear any other Land Rover stories.

You'll have to forgive me, as I'm not used to posting on forums, but I'll get used to it!

Thank you very much,
Jacob.

Now THAT is an introduction! :clap2:

:welcome2: Welcome Jacob, you sound like a very together young man, and definitely have your head screwed on right when it comes to motor vehicles. You'll certainly get a lot of advice on here. We'd love to see some pics of your pride & joy!

:welcome: Jacob. Enjoy your time here, but please let folks know about your age when posting for a bit until you are better known on the forum as it can get a bit raucous here sometimes.

+1 - the Anything Goes area can get quite colourful sometimes.

Welcome aboard young man. I think it's wonderful to find young people with interests outside PlayStation and such. When I was much younger than you I was always tinkering with engines and all things mechanical. Don't be afraid to get stuck in and try things out. It's only way you're going to learn. Also don't worry about making mistakes. They say,,, " The man that never made a mistake, never made anything"..

You've really given me inspiration there, so thank you! I absolutely agree with you, it's impossible to get anywhere if you don't try.
