Hello All.
Just joined the Landy Zone.
I am 72, retired from civil earthmoveing on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand.
Have a shed and a very understanding wife, rebuilding a Series 3, 88'' Land Rover to the Australian Army Skippy standard, from the ground up, been a great project. Have always been interested in Army transport.
Learned to drive in my uncles brand new 1953 short wheel base.
Cheers Tim.

Welcome to the forum Tim from another member with an understanding wife. Don't be shy get some pictures up of your project

What's a Skippy standard? I'm old enough to remember Skippy the bush kangaroo. That programme had a pick up truck in camouflage paint.

Hello from Tim.
"Skippy Standard" The Australian Army built up their own design in the early 60s? on an 88" by raising the chassis by 50 mm, increasing the tire size, and squaring of the mud guards which gave them more of a grunty look!!!
Most likely did other things that I am not aware of?
I will post some pictures of my project.
Cheers.
