Has any body done this and kept the original fill pipe or at least filler cap?

any pics? how easy hard is it to do?

Im wanting to move my tank as ive clouted it a few times, plus im mounting a rear winch but want it out of the way not under slung or hanging off the back.

standard ones are plastic? but i never said i wanted plastic you just ass-u-me-d ;) im getting an ally one if i do it, will also be of use when and if i bobtail her ;)

Can I recommend it being behind a solid steel enclosurefor safety, I wouldn't be comfortable putting a tank inside a car unless it was multi skinned or encased in a steel enclosure

if it derv then its hardly flammable but if its a v8 then stainless is the only way imho

Would it be at all possible to adapt an LPG container into a fuel tank (perhaps with a one way "valve" to contain the fuel in the event of an accident)? my reasoning is they are allowed in the boot of a vehicle (RRC) and they are under pressure so they must have been tried, tested and proved to be safe enough, plus LPG is more volatile than derv. I would also check with your insurance to see what they say.

Technically, it is possible to adapt an LPG container for use as a fuel tank. Considering LPG is stored under pressure, it doesn't take much to have it flow out of the tank's delivery port/orifice. To use as a fuel tank however, you would probably have to cut into the casing of the tank to allow for fuel connections that would make it possible to suck fuel from the very bottom of the tank and the installation of a fuel level sender.
In my point of view, not really worth the time, cost and weight increase of your vehicle.
