Hi there.

I have a 1987 90 ex 2.5TD which has been upgraded to a 200tdi, Without the Cold start timer relay. Often when I am driving the Cold Start warning light comes on. Before I start stripping back the Binnacle etc does anybody know a possible fix. i.e would changing the Glow Plugs remedy this?

Many Thanks

Sam

hi ,i think you need to check the ...................................................hello :rolly::welcome:

Sounds like a wire to the dash bulb gettting an intermittent feed

Did you alter any of the wiring loom for the conversion

Not convinced it would be glowplug related directly

As above, I would be looking for a loose connection or chaffed wire giving an intermittent feed. As with any potential electrical fault, try to get it sorted before it leaves you stranded on a dark wet night or worse, warming your hands against a gently smouldering Landy.

Fitting the timer relay is a simple enough task and possibly worth considering if you are going to be delving into the wiring anyway?

As its intermittent I havn't suceeded in finding it and it hasn't come on so I can check that the fault is not powering my glowplugs. Unfortunately it will have to now wait a month as I've gone to sea. Bit of a bugger!!

Have had similar problems with my 1990 TD [now with 200] which is set up like yours and it was the ignition switch, cheers.

It was the ignition switch. I wound up getting a garage to do it. It took him 3 hours and a fair few tools to remove the shear bolts.
