Hello,

Alarm going off for no reason of late.

Unlocking/Locking with the key fob knocks it off.

Think about 3 weeks ago, I opened/closed all the doors, bonnet and boot - was ok since.

Yesterday it went off for a short while at 8am 10am and then full guns at 11:30am (heat related?).
Today it went off at noon - opened/closed doors using fob several times, it went off again at 13:00

The first time it played up I started the engine as well - just incase.

Saw a post online of unlocking/locking the drivers door with the key quickly 3 times resets the alarm system - I found that the key does not do anything in the lock, can turn it left/right but no locking/unlocking of the doors takes place.

Has not done at night ?

Thinking to checking the connections to battery of the car.

Read that the battery in the key fob if low can cause issues, I see a battery symbol on the fob but no means of opening it.
It has just went off again about 2pm, there is nothing displayed on the dash just the red light flashes fast.

Decided to start the car and "bonnet open" flashed up once.

Had issues with the bonnet about a Year and a half ago after getting the car back from an MOT, warning kept coming up even after slamming shut. Took back to garage and they fixed it.
Will give the bonnet mechanisms a good spray with WD40 after this.
Did notice when initially playing up, opening/closing the bonnet, starting car had a bonnet open warning - had to slam it shut and warning away.

I guess the first thing is to get the door card off and have a good look, before it bites you.
Your bonnet "open/close" switch needs looking at by the sounds of it, which might explain the alarm issues.

Not sure if it's the same on a 2008, but a mate of mine had a 2004 with similar issue, although in his case alarm was triggering hazzards but no alarm. Consequently it would be flashing all day & flatten the battery !!

Unplugging the bonnect switch sorted it. We assumed wind / flex in bonnet was triggering the switch although the switch itself was fine. Switch was located next to driver's side hinge.

Just in from looking at things, found the bonnet sensor as cleaning things up. Depressed this a few times but sticking. The garage had told me to lubricate and it would be fine, prior to taking back to them - I can only suspect the guy thought it was something to do with the locking mechanism of the bonnet ? The plunger of the sensor and spring actually popped out as testing it. Took the electrical connector off as when activating the plunger of sensor it was moving the body of the electrical side (thought that should be secure), cycled the white plunger of a few times and that and a spring popped out the end! - reseated everything. Had a feel about the many body of the switch after looking online to see what what was. And I think the bottom part is broken, there is an oval shape at the top for seating the electrical assembly but feeling round the bottom I think its broken. Reckon the bonnet needs to be locked up to gain proper viewing/access. Going to order a sensor and hopefully that solves the issue, need to see how to fit. Assume that by taping the sensor switch closed would stop the alarm if needed as a stop gap?
Its either wear and tear or the garage butchered it.

As you are getting bonnet open warnings, it's most likely the bonnet switch that is triggering the alarm.

The earlier models use a normally open switch, that closes when you open the bonnet. So unplugging it should stop the alarm going off ?

New bonnet switch ordered has anyone changed one out ?

Makes sense, will try that if the alarm keeps going off.
