Hi Everyone, I have a 2007 90 Hardtop and I’m after wiring up some LED light strips in the back as I only have the light in the front of the cab. I wondered about wiring into the existing light so the rear lights come on when the doors are open, or wiring it up with a separate switch, if I did the latter where would be handy to take power from? Or just go from the battery? Any pictures / ideas from what others have done would be great.
Thank you
Toby

It may be a safety thing just to wire it to the side lamp wire in the rear corner and a switch to activate it on the cover plate.

Find an ignition live, attach a relay amd fuse to that with your new switch, don't go direct to the battery Mate.

Assuming later cars same as tdi models? there is a lovely fat purple wire driver side rear behind the light cover, cannot remember if it is ign live though.

You could do both ie wire it into the existing light and add another switch so that it can come on when you open the doors or be turned on by the new switch which would also allow you to isolate it from the door circuit when needed/wanted
