Just got 2 quotes for my 110 defender and i cant believe that there was such a large difference in price-

Sureterm -£640 full comp with all extras + 90 green card
Lancaster - £371 full comp with all extras + 12 months green card

And that was with the same underwriter - highway.

Just goes to show you do need to shop around.

insurance these days is a rip off, i was quoted 1100 for a 2.5 omega estate, i was quoted 1500 for the rangey as its 'such a powerful car' i told them to keep thier insurance, i had already found it cheaper. she asked me where and howmuch, can we beat it and i told her then declined her offer as i didnt trust them!

i know what you mean when i was 17 i had a polo gt got quotes from 1000 to 3000 quid unbelievable how companies can justify it . you dont go into asda and get a tin of beans for 50p then got to tesco and they cost you a fiver

Definitely shop around. Me and the missus have both been with the same company for years and were both paying abut 180 quid a year fully comp. Did some roting about on the net this year and I'm now paying 88 quid and she's paying 96 quid. We've been getting robbed for years it won't happen again.

NFU. £250 fully comp. All mods declared and includes business use for the motor trade including towing broken down vehicles. And thats after my other one getting torched last year anorl.:D:cool:

Problem with NFU is they refer you to yo local office and the quality varies tremendously. You got a good a good deal, Ratty - my local branch took 3 weeks to come back with a " we cant insure modified vehicles" - a complete waste of time and effort.

I gotta agree with that.

I've phoned them up in the past and they said they wouldn't insure modified vehicles.:(

This time around they were ok about it. They were even fine about my landy getting attacked where I park it near home. I told them it was torched so they put it down as vandalism and not theft. As it's vandalism it's put down to bad luck rather than being deliberately targeted so it didn't effect my insurance.

It's not too bad if they refer me to my local office cos they're only 300yds from one of my standby points for work.:p

we'll see what happens when it comes up for renewal in a couple of months time.
