Hi Everyone.... I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm in the right place. Can anyone recommend and insurance company that will cover my 17 year old son as a named driver on my 2013 Defender 90 XS SW? I Am currently with Direct Line and they didn't want to know, nor did the NFU.

NFU is the best insurance by far (in my opinion) but unless you hold alot of weight with them they rarely touch young drivers...

Avoid Adrian Flux like the Black death!! do a search on here and youll see why...

Oh how times have changed... 12 years ago NFU insured me and my sister on our 90 - from the age of 17 then once we had past our tests - no problems at all. They do like existing customers though, not new ones wanting the world.

To get me insured on my Rangie we had to pull a few strings, uninsuring the farm with them quickly made them become the cheapest by a very long way :p

Hi,

Unfortunately very few insurers will offer cover for under 25's as additional drivers, as it is commonly seen as 'Fronting'.

If you decide a quote with your son as the policy holder might be worth looking at, please do feel free to PM me your details & I can arrange a call back.

Kind regards,
Jordan

They've insured me for the last 4 years (Since I was 17) on all manor of things.... V8 Classics, Discoverys, Series, Defenders, Morris Minors, Ford Fiestas! As you say though..... Existing customers with a fair amount of stuff insured with them.

I've been with Aviva for a few years now and they have served me well. Just insured my daughter as a named driver on a provisional (learner) on my Discovery for a few hundred extra on top. Give them a ring.
