This is my very first post. My 110 SW (04; 72 000mi) was totally wrecked just a few weeks ago, after swirving on the M61 to avoid a dozing and drifting driver and then losing control of the car. The insurers (Zenith) are refusing to pay out anything whatsoever on the grounds that I had not told them about the roof rack and dog-guard, so my policy was invalid. Does anyone have any experience with such a situation? What did you do?

Their excuse is utter bollocks. The roof rack & dog guard should be classed as optional extras and are not modifications and you do not need to notify your insurer.
