after almost 6 years owning my series 3 I'm ready to insure it! Any ideas on what to expect to pay and what companies are best to use. 1972 series 3 fitted with a 2.5n/a engine. Thanks all.

Male/female? Age? No claims? Security devices? Security? Locked garage?

I've got a defender,42 year old bloke with wife named driver, 8 years NCB, modified, parked on the drive no alarm and I pay £200 fully comp with break down cover with Adrian Flux, I should have got it cheaper but I forgot to shop around when the renewal came as it was only £170 the year before

Hi,

Feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. If you want to PM me your details I can arrange for us to get in touch.

Kind regards
Jordan

Footman James all the way for myself and the Mrs...
Fully comp/foreign cover/legals/unlimited mileage for the both of us (both 40's with no convictions/claims etc)

£170 a year....

Ohhhh and that covers ALL 5 of our series TDI ones and modifications all declared.

its worth shopping around, mc Edwards used to be great for chevvies but now they are not at all good, flux were much cheaper so both mine are with them, the wifes runaround has been with admiral, flux but is now with swinton, my landies used to be with flux at £98 min premium through Chaucer I think, but swinton did £20 cashback on both of them so at £78 they are with swinton but the actual insurer is still Chaucer.

I presume the cashback arises from them giving up some commission in order to get the deal.

one of my chevvies was with grove and dean last year who were much cheaper than everyone else, I tried flux at renewal and initially they were more expensive as it was an extra car so lack of ncd but they spoke to the underwriters partly because of my long ncd on the other chevy and came back with a premium undercutting grove and dean so I went with them.

Im having trouble as I dont have a garage. A Manchester post code isnt helping but being a professional driver at 50 years old with a max no claims I want better than two hundred smackers for a weekend run around. :(

Try Heritage. I got £65 fully comp on restricted mileage of 5,000. You'll not get cheaper n that.

are the quotes you are getting for a classic policy?

I have a London postcode, similar age and claim history, have garage and drive but more cars than will fit so mine are insured for on road parking so you should be getting similar quotes to me I would have thought

Hi mate, yes that's on a classic car policy with 3000 miles a year as I wasn't to sure what I'll be doing ( after all this is only a weekend toy) I do have max ncb but this wasn't passed on when I insured the landy today!

Just came back from a drive in the landy, first drive in the 6 years of owning it, mot day is in the morning
