Hi there
Well i am after some advice really, i am looking to buy a 4.0ltr range rover on LPG. just wondering if any one has any info on the lpg and how the vehicle runs on it, i have heard stories that it can damage the head. but then other people say its fine and causes no problems.
my second question is insurance, i am only 24, and im looking at £2000 for insurance, if any one knows of some chreap companys out there, i would apprecate your knowledge.
thanks all
hope to hear from some one in the near future1

owdo & welcome to the house of fun

do a search down in the range rover section - there's plenty of info on LPG

try one of the landrover specialist in the landy mags - but at your age the insurance for a 4.0 V8 is gonna be pretty high

Hello Chap,
I hear that GEMS/THOR petrol V8s on P38s are happiest running a full sequential multipoint LPG system. They will run on the more basic and cheaper single point system, but it can play havoc with ECUs and has even been known to blow plenum chambers apart!!
The best (and most expensive) LPG system is made by PRINZ and has a 2 year warranty.
Pay attention also as to where the LPG tank will be fitted; underfloor/bootspace/sparewheelwell/instead of main fuel tank, costs vary greatly and each have their own pros and cons.
I rate LPG very highly, it makes my 3.9 Disco a££ordable to run, with LPG half the price of petrol I return the monetary equivalent of 38 to 40 mpg compared to price of petrol!!
I know a very good LPG specialist in Yeovil, I can pass you details if reqd.
As for insurance, look in LRO or LRM, you must have a certificate of conformity/safety inspection for your LPG system; some, not all insurers insist on a copy. I have heard that NFU Mutual insurance is very competitive of late.
Hope this is of use to you,
BoomerV8

Mate, I'm 20 got a range rover evoque 2.2 - 2013... i appreciate your situation is different but i've been ringing around for months the cheapest quote i got (even Adrian Flux) was £3.5k with £3k Excess! I called NHU it took about 45 mins as they kept going back to the underwriter but i've got fully comprehensive cover and RAC breakdown cover with them for £900 and £400 excess!

Give them a call Definitely worth a try
