Josh, take a look at the size restrictions on the breakdown insurance details, as I also had breakdown cover from Adrian Flux and the maximum weight it covered was less than that of the Defender so a useless policy for me when I phoned and questioned them about it they said that they could not help me "go and get cover from elsewhere".
So does that mean they only covered to provide van recovery and not flat beds?
I had their recovery, and used it:( long time ago though

I would expect they use flatbeds for recovery but the cover for my land Rover 110 CSW clearly states the cover is limited to Private cars, Motorcycles. - Light or heavy commercial vehicles and minibuses etc- cannot be covered.
The maximum weight is 200kg the above restrictions exclude the Land rover Defender 110.
I had the previous year paid for breakdown cover but not fully read the limitations, luckily I had no recovery needs in that year. When the insurance was renewed I looked better at the policy and found that the Defender was not covered because of the limitations.
I phoned Adrian Flux to make sure and they agreed that the policy would not cover my Defender and that I was to find another company for cover as there was nothing they could do for me. I then asked about the previous 12 months cover I had paid for The lady put me on hold for a few minuets and returned with the statement that as it was their fault they would have covered me in the event of a breakdown and not to expect any refund on last years premium.
Maybe they would have done something to recover my vehicle??? but what would have been the outcome if my breakdown was out of the office ours of Adrian Flux the recovery company turns up and says sorry mate your on your own its too big and heavy for our equipment??.

TBH dont often if ever hear good things about adrian flux.
I have nothing good to say about Adrian Flux or their attitude to their customers.
That company will not get any business from me ever.
They claim to be Land Rover specialists yet sell policies that are not suitable (exclude) for Land Rovers.

Mines with adrian flux and comes in at £111 fully comp with wife on it with off road insurance included and 90 days Europe cover.

Adrian Flux have removed the driving other cars benefit from their policies, l needed to drive a VW Polo for a week and they charged me £47.
Beware if you drive somebody else’s vehicle you may no longer be covered unless you are on their insurance.

Just to give you the heads up, certain companies go on the crime statics in your area and they can go up week by week month by month, start getting quotes six or seven week before your due date and even up to a day before and done include auto renewal you will get a big bump on that....after that advice all I can say is happy hunting and look for yourself all are different.

I was with the same broker Endsleigh for 40 years and always had good experiences with them. But last year the premium jumped from about £300 to £500, so finally decided to do the internet thing. By changing my status to retired, binning business use and commuting, quotes were very competitive including Endsleigh but I went with Hastings Direct for £229. The renewal just came through this week at £301 so I phoned them up. Dropped my annual mileage to 5k which is more than enough now, they applied other discounts and got it down to £205. This is fully comp with protected no claims. Told them I now have Skytag but they don't recognise that one. But I'm a happy bunny, saved a few bob which has paid for the pedal lock I bought last week. :D
Edit; confirmation just came through and its dropped to £189!!!

Jeeze, some big numbers being thrown about here, I just insured the 90 for £105 fully comp, agreed value etc. with Adrian Flux.

It would be interesting for thems who have been offered a very low price on insurance to look for the same cover on comparison web sites to see if there's any other companies who can come close on cost + service level. I can't see how they offer insurance for £3 a week. Especially on tratters which are high on the list of nicked vehicles.

Hi Josh,

I've made some enquiries on your behalf and a colleague has asked where are you finding / reading that the Flux Rescue has a weight restriction?

For those that take out breakdown cover independently through us (i.e not attached to their policy) there is a restriction up to 2500kg's as we do have to limit this as we also provide breakdown cover for Motorhomes and larger commercial vehicles.

I'm advised that the weight restriction isn't mentioned in the policy wording so we're curious as to where you're reading this?

I believe in both cases our recovery provider will have no issues with recovering as we find Landrover owners an honest bunch.

Thanks,

Dan

How on earth did you get Land Rover insurance for £105 with agreed value? Is it a “Classic” policy as a second car?
The insurance renewal from Adrian Flux came today on the missus’s standard 2003 90 SW and it’s £406.28.
She’s got a full NCB and it’s SDP only!

hi, it wasn't me who wrote that. i just mentioned i got breakdown cover with my insurance, thanks

Well l have shopped around and my renewal price from Adrian Flux is not being beaten.
Plus the AF policy is better as it includes more benefits.
I assume the £100 quote was a “classic” policy which means second car, lower mileage but doesn’t accrue NCB.
Had this when l insured my classic Ferrari, it only cost £250 but then l sold it and bought a BMW Z3 3.0 the quotes were around £1,000!
As the Ferrari policy hadn’t been building any NCB

Hi again Josh,

Yes, it would appear that Tim4x4 mentioned this - if he wished to respond we'd certainly like to investigate.

Many thanks.

Dan

Peter Best Insurance 1959 s2 and 1993 tdi 90, both classed as modded as have pto winches, full comp unlimited mileage with european breakdown cover both agreed value at 6k each 238 quid, obviously as Lightning mentioned this is a classic policy and no ncd accrued and once you are out of normal car insurance for 2 years you lose all ncd entitlement.

Evening.
Just to add to the list of insurance cost.
Defender 90 lifted and roll cage and over size tyres.
£240 with my 25yr old son on it.
Classic insurance with 3000 miles max.
9yrs ncd.
is 3rd car.
