Hi All,
Getting B***** annoyed, was looking at buying a 'cheap' Disco to use in the bad weather and do up but the insurance quotes are over £1200!!! I'm over 40 have a full UK licence for cars, motobikes and HGV's but have no NCB as it is in use on my other car. Back in 2004 I used to work with a guy who had a Range Rover and a Disco both insured for under £100 per year!!! Does the cheap insurance exist, is it a myth or should I wait until the current car needs replacing then swap it for a half decent Disco?

You're in same situation as i was..been abroad for years and nobody would accept my foreign NCB...til i spoke to Footman James...got my 1984 90 fully comp + euro travel + breakdown for £134 a year...

Frank pickles.

As long as it's your second car as is modified in some way. The mileage must be limited to no more than 5000 miles a year. They don't care about ncb, they don't accept it for discounts, nor give it out at the end of the policy. They'll also give a 13% discount if you join a proper off road club, but weigh that up with the cost of joining said club.

You can also add commuting to the policy.

Id be very surprised if it cost more than 200 quid. But I guess that'll depend on where you live.

Failing that, lancaster are also very good I'm told.

You need to get on a Classic policy really and most want a vehical to be over 20 these days.
Just picked up a 1990 V8 Disco and my insurance is £181 Full comp. 4000 miles a year.
Im 41 and my NCB is on another car same as you.
I went through Lancasters.

Or do as I do part time traders policy
thats ok,,but int there summit that says if you own the vehicles you cant put them on yr traders policy?

or thats what happended to a guy on road wars the other night it was his main vehicle and he put it on his traders policy and that wernt no good it needed a seperate policy

No the rule is a separate business vehicle can't be on it. So for instance our vans are on a separate policy. But my cars are on a total indemnity of 10000, customers 20000 also have accompanyment insurance.

So I can do repairs and drive the customers car legally.
No limit on cars on it and anything upto 7.5 ton

£250 excess fully comp
Modified third party only £500 excess

Customer jobs you must keep records eg receipt book to form bill eg car reg and type mr blogs mot and brake pads £65

No steam engines,kit cars,motor bikes,supercharged or cosworths

Think they quoted £690 and haggled to £640 with legal protection
