Hmm, not very consistent is all I can say about insurance companies.

I rang Lancaster, who simply said they could not offer cover for such a highly modified vehicle at any price! They said maybe they could try some more options, but only if we agreed not to use the motor for commuting to and from work and accepted other restrictions, and then only an outside chance! KAK

I then rang the NFU, with whom we already have an L200 insured for commercial use, they wouldn't touch it either! KAK

Sureterm quoted £347, unfortunately with enough restrictions including mileage to stop you using it and a huge excess to boot, utter rubbish, everything you would want in such a policy stripped out! Is anyone really insured with such poor providers? KAK

Strikes me the insurers have no idea and just throw the paperwork up in the air, and everything depends on which way it lands. Or is it that there are not really many seriously modified Landys, just primarily some with cosmetic mods perhaps, so they get used to that, then real mod's just confuse them?

Thankfully I got quotes back from Adrian Flux & A-Plan, both of whom the extended family use for a number of Jap imports. Adrian Flux came in first at £265, and that's with a huge number of extras including like for like & unlimited mileage, you can also add more options like breakdown etc if required. We opted for the whole shooting match including full breakdown (inc' Homestart) & recovery, Key cover, (lost / stolen) extended legal 7 personal cover, claims protection, euro cover, time unlimited courtesy car, and more, total £331.

So, my experiences over the last few days indicate that if you have a seriously modded Landy get yourself down to Adrian Flux. We have used them for several years, but of course we didn't know until we asked that they had a special Landy plan and someone who knows about the vehicles. I used their Thatcham office and spoke to Alec, should have known as they have specialist departments & staff for a number of odd vehicle types.

I got a return call from Peter Best?..or I think that's it, I lost interest in their name when I heard £493.50..a very similar package to Adrian Flux but twice the price! More KAK

I always go with Adrian Flux...they always seem to be wayyy cheaper than anyone else. And seem to have people that understand what you are talking about. All I would say is make sure you get all the mods declared...because often if you call them up once you have agreed with the policy and forgot to put something on, they will charge you £25 admin fee for making a change to the policy.

Well, got the quote from Frank Pickles, good price at 257.94, until you read the small print and realise it's a total crock of cr@p. So many restrictions it's only any good for hobby use, limited mileage, the policy does not attract no claims bonus's, not allowed to drive another vehicle on the insurance, even 3rd party, £500 limit on windsreen, 1yr contract with no cancellation etc etc. Yet another cut down policy attempting to compete with Adrian flux's PROPER policy for just £2.06 more! KAK

Of course they cleverly disguise the bad bits by promoting the good bits, £100 excess, (£60 on w'screen) 30 day euro cover, which of course you'd never use, and what appears to the innocent to be a fairly low price for such a modified vehicle.

ADRIAN FLUX are still streets ahead.

hi, just wondering, to put thoes tyres on to your landy, what did u need need how much did it cost if you dont mind my asking. Also dose it cause and excess ware having them on? thanks

lancaster quoted me £344 fully comp with winch and bumper etc. Im 27 with 3 points for speeding, dope. But, 2g insurance quoted me £295. Has anyone heard of them? Now going to check frank pickles out
