I've been looking at insurance recently before buying a Disco, simply to get an idea of how much I would be looking at.

Frank Pickles refused to quote, saying my postcode was too dodgy. I'm in Swinton, west Manchester.

For a completely unmodified, 300tdi, 1996, 5 door Disco, the best I can get is £469 from NFU. Parked on drive etc... 29 years old, 7 years no claims on my other policy which obviously can't be used.

Tried Lancaster, Sureterm etc but all £500+

Ridiculous.

that is really bad aint it. Clean licence? has to be your location as I have had a claim of theft, 3 points, 3 years no claims and lancaster quotes me £295, but thats a defender 90 with winch and bumper. location location huh

Yes clean license, no claims either. I checked our postcode last night and we are in class F, which is very high risk apparently.

at the end of the day, your be driving a proper car, a land rover! thats gota be worthy of a higher premium, if you end up having to pay more, or not as the case is with Yorkie gav. think defenders are low premium things because they are not used much by them that like to speed and mod them and crash em?

£3100 is the cheapest Flux can give me! TPFT that is.

But at the moment I have the most 'spare' cash I'll have for a while, so why not spend it on a Landy? Is probably the only time this side of 25 ill be able to afford to run it.
