Just got through the renewal from NFU - price £786.63. Phoned Frank Pickles.... £217... No brainer really.

It's definately worth shopping around

I've been with the NFU for quite a few years, whenever I receive my renewal I get a few quotes on line and take it in to the local NFU office. They have always reduced the premium so that I remain with them. Your premium of £786.63 seems a bit ott, my son was quoted £350 with the NFU for a D2 but he's only 26 so thats probably why. Had you questioned the £786.63 they would probably have reduced it, but £217 is better still :)

i allways take the view that if they will reduce the quote significantly they were trying to con me, so ill go where they quote sensible to start with

I'm 38 so I wonder where I'm going wrong

I'm guessing its all down to where you live and how you get on with the young lady in the NFU office. I always get the ugly one that has a face like a horse. I live in an area with a low crime rate so thats probably why the premiums are not too high.

Was the quote for standard insurance or the 4X4 off road insurance. Just been looking at their web site and under the standard questionnaire it asks if the car has been modified ie snorkel, suspension, winch etc as standard road 4X4's cannnot be covered.

i was doing quotes last week and getting £600s-800s and up :(

im 31, only had licence since march 2009 1 ncb

done it yesterday on go compare, lancaster came up under half the price of the rest, rang them up as i couldnt belive it, and they went through and even got more miles and got the price down !!!!

land rover specialist policy for drivers with a daily driver car, lady as a second car, i insured it earlier today and got..

fully comp insurance, euro cover, green laning and off road cover, £50 excess, windscreen+glass, legal cover etc,top draw full national breakdown cover with home start, onward travel+hotel,or bring me and the car and passengers home to my house from anywhere in the uk (similar on AA/rac was £180 odd i think) , for £240 !!! thats with all fees inc monthly instalment fee , im over the moon with that !!

im with highway 4x4, if you have been driving for more than 3 years they are a flat rate company so the ignore no claims. My suzuki viara last year was £855 third party fire and theft and my 200tdi disco is fully comp and only 250 including paying monthly! i would give them a call!

im with highway just put policy up this year by 200 plus well ****ed off they told me i could pay over twelve months plus another 100 and ther specail offer after 3 months payments they will give me 250 cash back ducking **** take
