Hi following on from my other post , HOW has declaring Mods impacting your insurance price.

1989 90 commercial, 6 points, £301
Converted to County Spec, with forwars facing seats, 9 points, £330
Converted from 2.5td to 200tdi, 9 points, £385
Drop to 6 points now, £300.
Last 6 points come off in Jan, can't wait.

Performance direct.

Ok rang first thing , Boost alloys computer says yes , Spots computer said NO .
Off she went to check with the insurer . Boost alloys , SPOTS pair on bumper , Side bars , moto-lita steering wheel , Happy with the mods/extras but premium would increase to a Massive £15 per year extra .

Previously changed from 3 seats to 7 seats , but wanted lap belts in the rear . No Increase in premium same company .

Another insurer wanted extra £80pa , But no belts required in the rear bench seats .

I went with lap belts as I was not sure how the law was with regards to needing belts in the rear bench seats , Appears they are not a requirement , So at renewal I will go with the no belt option as they are regarded as dangerous .

Maybe you need to shop about a bit. If you have more than one car look at a classic policy with an insurers who understands and accepts modified vehicles.

Think my brother got his modded 90 insured fully comp with all mods declared for £120

No mods, 10yrs NCB fullycomp, I added driver, £210. 1995 Discovery 300tdi. , just renewed, maybe in the new year look into fitting extras iv had in shed for last 5 yrs.

3 Years NCB, fully comp, all mods declared (Wheels, winch, roll cage, interior changes, engine swap, upgraded brakes). £134 per year. £12K agreed value on a 3000 mile limited policy.

I eventually ended up with A-plan 6k limited miles , loads of mods once i started looking properly ie spots , sliders , centre box removal , radio upgrade , gauges , spots , 7 seats snorkel (other insurer wanted xtra £60 for a snorkel) , moto lita s/wheel , boost alloys , its amazing once you start listing bits , 12v sockets , dual charge etc , £310 full comp .

not as cheap as some on here , but my original insurer wanted £440 without the sports exhaust pipe and a few other mods .
