I'm looking into new boots for the 'fender and have narrowed it down to a choice between a wheel/tyre package for the Insa Turbo Saharas or just the BF Goodrich Mud Terrains for basically the same money (£580 delivered)

What would be the better tyre?

I've got Insa-Turbo Dakkars. They're the same pattern as the old (better) BFG muds, but have a much more appealing price tag.

5000 miles now, and no problems other than one puncture that was repairable.

BFG, ive got the insa's and they dont take the punishment like my old BFG's used to

So it looks like its BFG's then. Are the new mud terrains as good as the old pattern?

What steel wheels would you go for to fit them to?

Cheers,
Paddy

I would go with BFG, I had a set of the old ones which I loved and they were great but now replaced with Insa Turbo ST's for playing and an old set of road tyres for the week. Actually takes 15 mins to change all four with my lad helping out once you get good at it and I dont like compromises.

On steels - go for what you can afford. Most of the time the cheapies will be fine until you hit a big rock and it buckles and you wish you had shelled out for the more expensive ones. If you have the cash then its worth it but if you dont then the cheapies are fine.
