Finding the file "names" is one thing, and burning them is something else it seems.
I get an error when I try to unzip the .bin file to a folder for burning to CD.
Does anyone else have a better link to a MK3 system set of software for the Range Rover Sat-Nav?

When dealing with bin files, you select the cue file to burn. where did you find these files?

The issue is that Windoze cannot unzip the bin file out of the zipped folder . It fails with a "unexpected error in file ......" message and therefore does not actually create the bin file at all.
If anyone has a zip file of the software that will actually unpack, that would be wonderful. @Stevie_B needs to rescue his SatNav unit from asking for a S/W CD.
 
@Stevie_B in the Zip folder "v32_night_all for mk3" zip file on the web site. But I suspect they are BMW as the unit is a BMW unit.
Take a look in your Mk3 folder from your earlier post. What's in there?

in the root of mk3 is the 3 folders 0103 0116 and 0128. that's it.
 
Very odd then.
I have tried 3 separate zip extraction programs (7-Zip, Winzip, and the native Windows extractor) and they all complain that the .bin file is corrupted.
So that's it, nothing I can do. Sorry mate. I would have happily burnt youa CD if I had the MK3 Units install *.bin file.

I have low confidence that it would work TBH.
Will try on my other machine that supports slower burn-rates and see if I can get an error-free disc created.

Were these the files in the V32 BMW version?
 
It was, yes.
The RR.zip file extracts perfectly ok to a set of 3 files that imgburn is quite happy with.
And..... it has burnt the CD with no errors.

So, to be clear, its the RR zip file from the neiloakly site and LH BMW files list of un-modified files.
It downloads RR.zip.

Can't get any of the others to successfully extract.

That's the file I used. Burn it and you get 5 folders and 3 files. Mk3 has 3 folders in. It seems to be more of a Global firmware disc. As if you need to pick out the bit you want. The nav unit will be fussier than that. It will want a certain type of file to kick off the fw upgrade procedure.

Or did you get something totally different?.....
 
Nope, I got the same structure. Its a shame there is no documentation to go with the files to explain what they are and how one should use them.
The lower directories have a bootrom file and a loader file.

I did Dan. It just said it was an incorrect disc. Locked up the nav for t mins then I managed to get the disc out. This is why I was asking what type of file the nav is looking for to start the process off.

Do you know or have you heard of IK spy software? Apparently that can clear the sw update request flag.
 
@Stevie_B I have just used the Mk4 software on this page to update my Mk4 unit....

There are also good detailed update instructions included.

Admittedly, I now have the MSport BMW logo but that is the only 'issue'.....

Try downloading the Mk3 software version and see if that helps....if you are getting nowhere with the other files.

I can accept no responsibility for the software downloads - I am only saying I have just updated my Mk4 with their modified V32 update file and it works perfectly.....again aside from the MSport logo as the splash screen.

OH, as an aside - if you have totally bricked your Mk3 drive, you can have my old one.....
