I've found a few posts along similar lines, but these were mainly regarding changing said seal.

My timing belt snapped a while back, luckily with no major damage, new belt kit and push rods and everything seem ok. First trip out proved this wrong, found oil seeping from the timing case and blowing across the steering bars, axle etc.

So, having stripped the timing case out again several times now i still have a leak. I've replaced the inner seal and the 'o' ring, swapped the drive sprocket over with no luck. The leak come from between the inner seal and the outer edge of the sprocket. When i've swapped the main seal it sits flush with the timing case, cant seem to move it any further than that.

This has turned into one of those jobs that takes up far more time than it should, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jon

Definitely the right seal, checked the number from my parts list against the one at the local main dealer. Its back in the same way it came out, and i've just checked another timing case i have to double check.

The pulley is the part which i'm unsure on. The old on (which is currently fitted) has a tiny tiny wear mark from the seal. The new pulley has machine rings on it, but is still pretty smooth. I've measured the pair with calipers and they come out the same diameter.
