From what I can see...

STC2289 (superceded by STC2295) and No.4 was STC2290 where used up to VIN WA409249

then

STC4217 and No.4 was STC4218 from VIN WA409250 onwards....

When this change of VIN came in I don't know....or if they are indeed the same injector with a new part number!

As Saint says, the STC2289 and STC4217 may well be the same thing as Island4x4 only shows the STC2289 injector for the full 94-02 date range whereas it shows the sensor one changing in 98.
 
thanks for the replies folks it was mainly the sensor one that i wanted :( but ho hummm will keep looking
 
What size socket is it to remove the injectors been looking on flea bay and there is a few different sizes :confused:
 
Don't know where in County Durham you are Mutsnutz, but if you are anywhere near Ferryhill and want to borrow a 27mm window socket, I have one sat here that I use on mine.

You don't by any chance own the cream-ish colour (no idea of the real name of the colour) P38 that's I see on the street going into Ferryhill do you?
