How much work is involved in replacing this pipe? Is it a difficult job?
Thanks
Hi Name.
Sorry I do not know your name, I noticed this from when I first joined that 95% of the members do not give there name out?
Right down to answering your question, is it the T piece or the end blocked of piece or are you referring to the hose it's self.
Either way not an hard job I change mine for new as part of maintaining the car.
What you need to do first is remove the engine cover Fig 1-2
1
2
This will give you access to the leak back pipes and hose start from injector 4 and work you way back to injector 1 Fig 3
3
Make sure you have the new hose and leak back connectors as here below link Fig 4
4
Bosch Leak Off Connectors - Diesel Components
Remove the spring clip with bull nosed pliers and keep safe even though if you purchase the kit they will have new ones Fig 5
5
You can then lift the connector from the injector always be careful tease it out if need to, even more so if you are only going to change the hose as the plastic ones can become brittle and break. Fig 6
6
Work your way backwards to injector 1 and as I say tease out the connector Fig 7
7
Once you have teased out all the connectors you can then lift the leak back hose line Fig 8
8
You can now remove the connector line from the main hose Fig 9
9
Now you have the connector line removed you can change the hose or the connectors which ever job you are undertaking Fig 10
10
If renewing the connector and hose as I did you need to cut a length the same as you have taken off Fig 11
11
Now add the brass connector to injector 4 blanked end Fig 12
12
Next step is to cut each length as you go along working to injector 1 T piece Fig 13/14/15
13
14
15
Re-fitting is reversal or re-moving first fitting injector one T piece into main line and then into the top of the injector making sure it is pushed fully home Fig 16/17
16
17
Refit the spring clip and there you have replaced connector leak back T pieces and hose Fig 18/19
