Morning all. Range rover l322 td6 auto 05.
I've replaced the injectors. Is there a way to test them all before I put the manifold back on.

You can run the engine with the manifold off but beware of anything being sucked into the motor. You may also get a couple of fault codes due to the MAF being unplugged.
 
So code reader said injector cylinder 2. So Changed it. Misfire still present and now its absolutely gut less. Is there anything I could have nocked or something during the change Maby

I don't know for sure, but I thought that new injectors had to be coded to the engine?

Some engines yes due to the manufacturing tolerances. I'm not 100% sure on these but certainly looking into the injector/engine ecu for existing codes would reveal this..

If you replaced the injectors for new or different ones you will need to input the code on the side of the injector into the engine ecu with diag as they willl be different to what is stored
if your code reader will not do it have a look at the bmw INPA software its a free download but you need the right cable, there is a company that supplys the cable along with the soft ware for about £60, you can do a lot of stuff with this setup.
 
Cool. Its going over to college there software alot better than my. I will say about coding clear everything and see what happens. Will update thread after results.
 
There is commonly a 16 difit code on each injector, these will need to written down and programmed into the relèvent injector positions ôn the software. :)
 
So after many conversations with local mec. A uncoded injector should not misfire. So was having a tinker and noticed that small movement on the loom changed the sound of the engine. Traced it to injector 6. Changed that one and it did not wanna come out (slide hammer job) but after that change all is good. The injector was in a horrendous sate coved in black wet gunk no smell of diesel. Did my best to clean the inside up. But now its all good.

Yes on cylinder 2. But it was 6 that was the bad one. I assumed that the garage said 2 so that it was the issue and after I changed it and it didn't work I tried to look at other problems it could have been. But it was as simple as wrong diagnostic.

Try a different garage :p.
Did you check the seat for the copper washer for any scarring as the problem can return if not addressed.
Glad to hear it's running again;)
