Good afternoon all,
Well I finally purchased my Landy 110 and what a pleasure, many thanks for the sound advise given, I've been doing the usual routine maintenance checking all is well when I came across a detached breather pipe ( I assume it is a breather) the pipe is in and around the chassis area and runs from the rear of the vehicle to roughly around the engine sump area, I can't see any area this should be attached, the pipe is black approx 5mm in dia and hooked. I have attached some photos showing the vehicle and pipe location.

Looks like the gearbox breather and usually hooks up into the engine bay right next to the bulkhead.

I guess it could also be the front end of the axle breather .... hooks into same place, anywhere it can fit ... ;)

Will it effect the landy in any way if not connected ?
 
Nope, unless you go through deepish water.
It's 6mm diameter and can be extended using more tube and a 6mm to 6mm straight pushfit connector.

The axles/gearbox have breathers in them, all cars have them to prevent pressure building up inside and thus oil being forced out past seals.
Landys have the tube fitted to these breathers because they go through water and water can get in to the gearbox/axles without them.
Because the ends of that tube are fitted high up in the engine bay, you would need to have your bonnet nearly submerged under water before the axles/gearbox were compromised.

Just the oil leaks to rectify but that will be a labour of love
 
Hello coombsey67. I'm not able to answer your question, and for that I apologise ;). However, I like the look of your vehicle and noticed that you have, what look to be LED headlights. I'm considering upgrading my own for the second time and would like to know if you would recommend the ones which you have and, are they legal action o_O. That doesn't sound right but I know that there are issues with LCD headlights and the MOT. :D

Nice to speak too you, the lights do make the LR, a nice finishing touch.
The driving experience in the night hours is fantastic such a difference and no need for spots, they are that good.
As for the legality the LR has passed two MOT's with no issues,
The type I have fitted is angel eyes so I was told at point of purchase and the full kit front and rear including side lights was circa 800 pounds so not cheap but a full 1000% difference in light.
 
They sound very good, but for that sort of cash, they should be! I'm just refurbishing the front of my Td5 90. I'm fitting a new Puma style bonnet, colour matching the front grill plate, fitting a new grill and wondering where I am going to fit two short LCD floods and a single 12" spot/flood combination.

New headlights needed anyway, so I might just get some to finish off the job :p. Thanks for the reply and good to "chat" :cool:
