Hi all. New to the UK (from USA) and this site but been an owner for 12 years. I have a 90 CSW, Build date of Dec. 19, 1984, dispatched Jan. 3, 1985 and registered Nov. 1985. Has original chassis, engine (97K miles), axles, gearbox, transferbox. Actually all original besides the chassis work and footwells I did recently.
I have been searching for any documentation as to when the last 2.25 petrol 90 was built and perhaps how many were built. I have seen a few small bits of info claiming they were only installed for the first 6 months of production yet I have also seen trucks registered at the end of 1984 having the 2.5 petrol from the factory. Seems to me mine would be one of the last ones, though I have not found much proof of this. I know there were still series III trucks being first registered in 1985 though not many. Curious how many 2.25 CSW 90's were built and when the last 2.25 was installed at the factory.
If anyone has some information or can point me in a direction to find some I would greatly appreciate it. I have the Heritage Trust cert. which gave me the dates I already know. I have just recently written to DVLA for copies of the previous V5's. Being registered almost a year after build would lead me to think it was a "left over" as better engines were available so why bother with a 2.25. Though it could have been used privately perhaps and did not need to get registered right away but it did get dispatched to a dealer. I am hoping the membership may have some interesting facts on this topic.
Glad to be a member and look forward to tapping into the memberships knowledge and perhaps helping others when I can. Thanks!
