Right,
So i've no indicators or hazard lights.
If i remove and bypass the hazard switch i can do the following:
Light up the indicators - so wiring is okay.
Hear a relay tick once - flasher is okay?
I can't get light flash though...

I am certain it isn't the stalk as i've put a new one in. If it was a problem with the hazard switch i would be able to get the lights to flash by bypassing it so don't think it's that.
The only thing i can think of is the relay not working properly however i've replaced it with a relay i know to work and it doesn't change anything. So my thoughts are a problem with the earth from the relay.
If i am thinking along the right lines, please could someone enlighten me as to where this earth runs to?
Or if i am completely wrong, please may someone suggest where the fault lies??

Thanks,
Jasper

Oh and also, I've swapped the loom so my 1987 90 has a 1995 200tdi loom in it.

I had same fault which was an earth fault in the end.
Mine was the rear lights, I just run a length of wire from a good earth to each lamp holder until I found the culprit.

I think you have an issue with you hazard switch, pretty common fault. Overtime the switch builds up loads of crap inside and prevents a clean contact between the copper stripping. Rather that buying a new switch which is £15, you can carefully take yours apart and clean it. It's really simple. Do a search on here, I'm sure done a how to a couple of year ago with pics. Also check the bulb in the switch is working, this can also cause the fault. ;)

Good luck

But all of the lights work if directly connect them up bypassing both the hazard switch and the stalk so i don't think its an earth on any of the lights?

I thought it was the hazard switch too however if I connect the points (in the plug for the hazard switch) directly then it still doesn't work so i cant see how it would be the switch....

Ahhh i hate electrics!
