my hippo is back in the dealers again:eek:

about 9 months ago it went in for the same problem, which is the turbo (td4) cuts out after about 5 miles of being driven. it does not matter how you drive it for those few miles, it will still cut out at about the same point.
switching off and on gives you another 5 miles, otherwise it's time to pull over and get out dragged by artics, if there is even a slight ruhmour of a hill or head wind.last time i was informed the actuator for the turbo was sticking, and had been free'd off under warranty, which has now run out.

they said they had fixed it last friday at lunch time, i asked them to take it out for atleast 10 mile before i made my way to pick it up. they phoned back to tell me it wasn't fixed. they then phoned back again telling me it was all sorted, so i went to pick it up.
guess what, 5 miles from the garage, it went again, so i turned around, gave it back to them and went home.
yesterday i phoned them to find out how things were going, to be told that they had ordered the faulty part and it would be in today. Today i phoned up to be told they had been on the phone to landrover technical for assistance.
so i popped up the garage to collect a few bits i need in 3 weeks time;) and was chatting to the mechanic. he informed me he had started to strip parts from another freelander and put them onto mine, and had so far spent 16 hrs on the car,and had replaced the egr valve and part of the common rail ( can't think which part he said now), before starting to swap parts from one to another.

HELP

turbo actuator vanes sticking [common problem] best fit a new one if it got stuck before. . . .:)

lol, just phoned up the garage again, they have just told me that the egr valve has helped but not cured the problem (personly i can't see how it can help but not cure), and are awaiting another fuel pressure regulator, which is what they changed last week and it did feck all.

my suggestion of burning it out for me, still isn't getting through to them

This translates to its not fixed but can we charge you for it

I have worked in aftersales for many years and used it
