Why not make your title"2 1/4 Diesel to V8 conversion help required"??

More people may understand it.

Cheers
Because I’m useless at this sort of thing...
cheers bud!
what are you putting it in if you don't mind me asking?
Hello there, series 109 and after rereading my title I suppose I should have clarified Rover V8 needs to couple up to a 4 speed with fairey overdrive. Do you think I need to change my post or everyone knows That my series has the 4 speed?

No, just clarify that it is a series not a 90 or a 110 as they both had the 2.25 diesels fitted in their early days.

I wonder if the fairey might have to work a bit too hard behind a V8 and end up prematurely expiring on you?

Fairey can suffer from high power inputs, and sometimes break. Ashcroft High Range box is stronger.
But the Fairey should be OK if you don't boot it too much, and check and change the oil in the Overdrive regularly.
