Hello to you all! Well, I've had quite smooth sailing for the last 5 years. Had a new head gasket put in, new sub frame and we've sailed through MOT's.

However, it failed last week. It had been making strange noises below the vehicle and was told it was the prop bearings and cheapest would be to simply remove rear wheel drive. Then a few days later, failed it's MOT on 'AVS' (?), lots of lights on on the dashboard and there would be a lot of welding work involved and now facing a total bill of £500 to make good and MOT for 12 months.

Dilemma!!! Our circumstances have changed and much as I love my landy, I really don't need it anymore! We are frail pensioners now and the birds have flown the nest. Have been driving my youngest son's Clio round town and to the shops and back and it really is much more practical.

What should I do with Landy? Scrap for spares? Borrow £500 to fix up and MOT and hope to recoup the cost when selling? Still only 72k on the clock and still a comfy drive when working..........

Valued opinions welcome

If you really don't need it any more, then it's better to sell it as a project (spares or repairs). This is better than scrapping it (£60-£100), or fix it up at cost of £500, only to sell it for £600.

Thanks Nodge68 for that. Confirmed my doubts and think I would be better off selling it for spares or repair. Is there a section in this website to advertise?:(

There is a "for sale" section. But you need to have made 50 contributory posts in order to list items there.

EBay is you best bet. I'm sure someone will take her off your hands for a couple of hundred £.
