My 03 L322 has the standard non-touch ICE / Sat Nav unit as well as additional DVD & PS3 units playing through screens fitted in to the headrests.

After playing about with this lot at the weekend there are a number changes that I would like to make:-

1. Add bluetooth phone functionality
2. Add Iphone / Ipod connectivity
3. Allow DVD & PS3 to ply through the normal speakers in addition to the wireless headsets in the rear.
4. Change TV tuner to digital (Optional)

As with everything anything is possible but in searching for the easiest solution to this the option of upgrading to the later touchscreen unit along with the DVD Sat Nav units of the later models may be a solution.

Can anyone advise if this is a straight swap or is it more complicated? I want to ensure all current functionality, i.e. CD, Steering Wheels controls etc remain.
 
Very complex...

Digital Tuner is simple as a plug and play option, touch screen upgrade would be near impossible due to the touch screen system running on a MOST data system whilst the early vehicles were on the CANbus system...

Hate to point you to another forum, but fullfatrr.com have loads of threads in the infotainment system upgrades, and they seem more intune with major electrical mods .... check them out!

Might be a silly question but why, when you are driving would you want to be annoyed by the noise of someone playing a PS3/DVD behind you? Why not allow them to listen to their noise and you to whatever you enjoy whilst driving?

One of my children is special needs and he can't wear headphones, he would however want to watch and hear what the other 2 are watching.

might be cheaper to buy a set of small computer or mp3 player speakers that could plug into the headphone jack and play the sound aloud like that :)

Not sure if you meant to quote me or the OP in that but my 'fair enough', was more about his reasons, rather than the way of doing it. Personally, I think your idea is much better than the whole shebang. I can't think many people would want that type of set up when it comes time to move the veh on. Then it'd be expense time again to put it back to DVDs not annoying the driver.

it was aimed at both party's really

+1 with the setup, i probably loose concentration with loads of tv sound blasting ! it would make me want to try and watch it :D lol

I'd only have that isssue 1: if it was Disney movies and 2: if I carried passengers. :)

She is very clever:

I have a good job - so she can spend all my money
I can cook a good meal - so she never has to cook
I am a awful passanger - so she gets chauffered everywhere
I drink Coffee - so she doesn't have to worry if I use all her tea bags
I am always under the bonnet of the RR or on here - so she can watch her thing on the TV without me moaning about it

The fact I am as ugly as sin with a serious attitude problem, and as I am so fecking good at my job and am really really sickeningly arrogant about it is not an issue!

I take it all back. She made such a fantastic choice with someone so super-talented as yourself. I may just join her in adoring you :love:
