Hello Chaps,

I have done a registration check a 300tdi i like but it came up with imported YES, Year manufactured 1996, Date of first reg 1/5/1997, Used before first reg NO.

Any one else had anything like that? How do i find out where it was important from?

Cheers
Steve

Yeah I have read about the imports on here and there doesnt seem to be to much of an issue with imports, The dealer doesnt have the paper work for it and has no idea where it came from.

Just wondered if i could find out somewhere.

I have a grey import ( Mazda bongo 4x4 )
Less company's want to insure it as never sold in this country
Should be no probs with a disco

Ok been getting quotes back ok, No rip off prices either, Its actually cheaper to insure than the Volvo.

Apprently japan doesnt use salt on its roads so imports may be considered better.

My Gray import from Japan is 15 years old and not a spot of rust underneath and mine is a north island import, more snow up there
Apparently they don't use salt but a chemical to keep roads clear
You get a import form ( carnt remember what number that is called )
You also get a auction form
And a v948 from dvla when it has its English plate registered to it you should be able to get info from them as to when it was English registered
My bongo has a load of jap stickers in the windows think these are like mot and tax
They are really well looked after in Japan my has had it's water pump changed on the service every 2 years according to paperwork
Spotless inside as well
If you get a jap import under seal it ASAP

There were Jap ones too

That was going to be my answer too.

nope, it is still in the same town it was first registered in, it doesnt have any kind of rust on it at all which is great but and a big but there is no service history, I am torn, could be to much of a risk.

Shouldn't be.

The good thing is there's precious little between a Jap and UK Disco unlike grey imports which were never sold in the UK.

I picked mine up with 48k on the clock and exceptionally good bodywork. At 18 years old, it's still one of the better ones on here.
