Hey folks recently purchased a 1996 4.6 hse import.

So speedo is in kph but would like to change for a mph speedo.

Is it simple enough to change over ?

Or is there more to it other than just replacing the unit?

Cheers
Steve

Yes, you will have to get the BECM reset to MPH.

Dosent the speedo have kph and mph marked on it so just read the smaller numbers for mph rather than go for a new speedo

Would the Speedometer cluster need changing too???

Don't know to be honest, you may be able just to strip it and change the speedo head. Changing the cluster brings stored mileage problems, if the cluster has more miles on it that the BECM, it will go to the highest figure.

Replace the Instrument cluster complete with one that has a LOWER mileage than your own. the mileage can then be updated in the Becm taking into account that the figure stored in it will be Kms. (100,000Kms = 60,000 miles-give or take a bit).

Hi I did this in reverse as I live in Spain I had all sorts of weird messages on the dash had to go to dealers to get it sorted but they could not alter the mileage so I now have KPH on the speedo and miles on the mileometer which actually I find better but be prepared for this
