Hi guys, i have a R reg Disco, when i try and start my Disco, the engine turns over once and then clicks like the battery is flat and then turns over once and clicks again, it keeps doing this. Also the immobiliser box on the passenger side footwell clicks very fast with the immobiliser light flashing on the dash. New 70ah battery fitted, another immobliser box fitted, tried to reset by code with door lock but still the same. Any ideas please? Many thanks

The box at the foot well is the alarm/central locking ecu the immobiliser part in behind the dash, if you can crank the engine it's no immobilised.
The symptoms are of a faulty battery of iffy battery connections when was the battery fitted? assume that the lock and unlock and remobilise of the engine with the fob is all ok ie. works every time.

But it turns over Robin and why would it make the box click fast?

is it the ecu that's clicking? its a green box or one of the many relays in that area. The immobiliser ecu frequently called a "spider" is buried deep within the dash.I assume it's a diesel-engine so has more than the standard two Pos- Neg battery connections, iirc there's two on the Pos side.
There can't be much wrong if this issue is since the new battery was fitted or has any thing else been touched?.

Ok i was thinking of the battery connections, so as been said earth connection/s and check the main fuses in the engine bay as a simple starting point.
Ok, will check earth strap etc tomorrow and get back to you with result. Thanks
