Hi all
Any pointer on root problem of this would be nice.
Came back after being away and missus said our Disco II V8 fob wasnt working and when she got in (it had been left unlocked anyway) there was nothing from the starter. She also said the sun visor dripped water on her from time to time(Come back to that), after she had only left car for a day. I checked battery and it was saying 12v on the dot, bit low I thought and it looked old. So bought a new battery and fitted it. Still nothing from key fob (new fob was coded by dealer in October) or from starter. I noticed when trying to turn her over the red immobilizer light was on. So locked and immobilized I think. Checked I have right EKA code with dealer and proceeded to try that. First attempt at end it honked once at end of sequence(fail), next it honked half way through (fail), third attemt I get double honk at end (success according to manual), leave it for the required five mins, waiting for the, now slow, flashing immob. light to extinuish as per required. Anyway it doesnt go out, but after five mins it start to flash rapidly rather than go out. So I jump in a low and behold, she starts up fine. Go for a drive and come home and decide to have a well earned cuppa and a smoke, leaving the car unlocked but noticing that the fob still aint working.
Come back out, expecting it to start no bother, and find its reverted back to being immobilized (light on solid when trying to turn her over).
I thought they are supposed to stay un-immobilized after doing EKA? Why has it reverted back.
When doing EKA I can feel my key and the lock mechanism not being happy (key feeling like its going to snap, although the mechansim isnt really that stiff) but its not something I wish to do often.
What issue caused the disco to immobilize itself in the first place as it had been left unlocked. Why did it rearm itself after being ok and only been left for twenty mins or so. And did i read something about the fob reciever being prone to water damage (can they also cause battery to go flat?), looks like I have a little dampness above my sun visor. Anyway she is sitting outside unlocked and I aint sure what to do next? Just changed the fob battery and no difference
As always any help really appreciated. Only posting as unsure what step to take next?
