I have got a p38 Range Rover 4ltr petrol 1996. The receiver has failed on the alarm/immobiliser hence the engine is disabled. I have several questions what is the cost of a new receiver ? The part number ? Is it any easy fit ? Also can the immobiliser be bypassed ?

If you mean the receiver in the rear boot space by the ariel then you are looking at abart 150 squids. If you do a search on this site you'll get the part number as it has been a problem for the earlier ones that get interfered by remote garage doors and wireless doorchimes, broadband etc.
Get the upgrade one and you won't suffer from this either.
It is an extremely easy fit.
 
The immobiliser function can be disabled in the BECM. However I don't know where that would leave you regarding Insurance cover if it was nicked.
 
I don’t think thieves nick P38's any more as they know there’s only a 50% chance of getting home before it sits down on its arse and shows EKA lockout. A P38 has a security system all of its own. One in which the Dealer will charge £1200 to turn off. (Now, now, easy) Lol :)

MY P38 engine has been immobilised, cant undo it, any ideas of.Key fob doesnt work and the key only opens the drivers door?

EKA required? Any messages on dash? Has the RF receiver been unplugged to try and avoid RF interference? Key might need resynching. Or microswitch might have failed in door lock actuator.
 
Will get the EKA code today. Message on the dash is engine immobilised. Will disconnect the rf cable when it stops raining. Its a 2000 model so key should resync when i put it in the ignition? Changing the key batteries today. Any idea how i check the door actuator ms?

Probably doesn't help that i unwittingly parked it next to my gate and garage door fobs and three feet from my alram and camera transmitter?

If it has the old style RF receiver and anything like that is transmitting on 433MHz it will stuff it. Mine was scrambled by an outdoor weather station.

@martyuk has made a filter for about £70 so it ignores spurious signals. Or you can buy a gen 3 receiver off Land Rover or Rimmer Bros for silly money - anywhere between £150 and £300. Or if money is tight a remote 12V jog switch can be fitted for under a tenner.

You should have started a new thread. Fob will not re-sync if EKA code is required. Get your EKA and enter it in the correct manner once it is accepted and the message goes fob will sync.
