Hi all. I have a 2000 Td5. I have just replaced the water pump and a couple of times while working under the bonnet the horn gave a small chirp. Now the car won't start. When I turn the key the engine turns over but the hazard light come on and stay on even when the key is removed. The 3 amigos now are displayed on the dash when all the other light have gone out. I have changed the battery in the key.

When I plug My hawkeye in the hazards stay on until I enter the security menu but come on when I exit it.
When I try and use Hawkeye to read any error codes it tells me the cable is faulty because I can't run the engine. I don't have the EKA code but will get it on Friday,

I have searched lots of forums and haven't been able to find the same symptoms.

Any ideas ? I'm more than perplexed

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes then reconnecting?
Also, just a guess but have you pressed the fuel stop button reset on the bulkhead?
Is the battery fully charged?
Cheers

Hi Neilly
I have disconnected the battery for 10min, 20mins, ,2 hrs, 24hrs....
The battery is fine. I haven't tried the fuel stop button I'll have a look.

As long as it cranks and the fob works it's not immobilised cos the immobiliser disables the starter circuit but based on your description with the hazards IMO it's something on the inertia switch's circuit so first push it then check the plug to be well connected give unlock command with the fob and try then.... if no joy remove the plug and bridge the pins in the connector, unlock again and try, if still no joy swap relays R9 with R8

Hi Sierrafery I'll give the inertia switch an inspection. I managed to get the EKA code from the main dealer today for free ! which I was surprised at.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks D

It's good thing to have the EKA and learn well how to use it if needed but in your case as long as it cranks dont bother with that cos it's not immobilised, listen to the fuel pump when you turn ignition on 2 cos if it's something on the inertia switch's path the pump will not start
