I can't get the damn thing started now. Advice would be appreciated. This car is rapidly upsetting me.

Going back a couple of days ago I had two incidents where the key was only operating the drivers door and not the rest of the doors. (the fob doesn't work, shock horror)

I got in and upon turning the key it doesn't start. I get "engine disabled" on the dash as well as "alarm fault".

I got out; locked all the doors, opened the bonnet, disconnected and reconnected the battery. put the key in the door again. All the doors unlocked with the turn of the key. A good sign I thought. Got in and it started.

HOWEVER The same thing happened again and the usual trick didn't work. I have had to leave it at work for now.

Right you need your Emergency Access Code. It's in the handbook on a little card and you need to use the key within the drivers door lock. it's all in the handbook and using the key you can override the immobiliser. Now I would change the batteries in your remote. You can get a new slotted cover and batteries from ebay. or a Land rover dealer, mine cost £11 with the new cover for the buttons. If you haven't got a handbook the dealership can look your code up, check with them for the procedure and costs.

You could try a PM to mozz smith, he's the guru in these matters.
You're lucky, he's got a little time on his hands right now.

Sorry Mozz :D

Check out the kicker on ebay for your model, I had the same after a dodgy Halfords battery. The synch between the Engine and the Bloody Expensive Crap Module has gone haywire I bought a kicker and until the battery was changed by Halfords. Had to re synch the bloody thing. Now Where are you, is it a Diesel ? Different types for P38's. Mines a red one too, is this a omen?

Engine disabled = immobiliser has got involved and you need to resynch your fob.
Handbook tells you how to do it. Have you got one ?
Alarm triggered = or such warnings are usually after a disconnect or locking problems.
Give us the right info to help you. Are you stuck miles away from someone. Location would help. type we have model fuel year all help us to get the right advice. :)

I don't have the handbook so I guess I will call Landrover for that. I will get a new battery but I didn't think that was the problem as when I press the buttons the light flashes. Its not worked since I have had it.

I live near Bradford and its a 2.5 derv.

I need to go to work but I will have a good read when I get back.

Thanks for the info, Handbook, can you trace the previous owner from the Logbook V5 are they in the phonebook. Someone with the right gear can access the codes, you can get the fob and the modules to synch, Really you most write down the four digit code for the emergency access. The light on the fob will light right up to the last blip. Using a voltmeter does not load up the batteries enough to tell if their capacity is enough. When in doubt throw them out. I only wish I was near. Ring your local dealer and ask how much for a print out on the data they keep and what paperwork they need to see. Normally a V5 with your name and address on it as owner and your driving licence or a utility bill.

Download RAVE from the link in the "How To" section, it's free and includes the owners handbook.
