hello.

having a starting problem with my range rover. i got told it was the starter motor so i had a friend come round to check it out.

he got under the car and i dont know what he done some kind of metal contact with a hex key and he got it to start up. it fired up and came on but only for a few seconds. he got out and told me it was the immobliser and would need to be bypassed or reprogrammed he said you can run a wire through with a switch to bypass it. just want to know would this be a good idea or could it damage the car?

also ive heard alot of people say when your immobiliser has gone you wont see a "check engine" light on your dash. but am still seeing the light and am getting no messages telling me about any problems so am not 100% sure it is the immobiliser??

any advice would be great thanks

i didnt get the EKA codes when i got the car. is there anyway to get them without paying alsorts from the stealers?

Yes, just go to your local LR main dealer and ask for it, it's on all the LR main dealers computer systems, and they should not charge for the info, nor fob you off saying they haven't got it. You may need to provide ownership proof and provide ID, so bring along the V5 and your driving licence.

hello.

got the EKA codes today and put them in with no effect. car still wont start any other ideas on what it could be?

Sounds to me like you need it resync'd. Takes seconds to do either with a syncmate, or by paying a stealer £60 plus call out

if you put out a post asking for help from some one with a syncmate you might be lucky and find some one local who will do it for a beer

ive heard that if the car needs resyncing the engine turns over, but won't start up. if thats the case then i dont think its that because mine wont even try and start up

i dont know i maybe wrong?

they sell syncmates on ebay for £130 would anyone recommend me buying one or is there anywhere that sells them cheaper?

dont fancy spending that much on something thats not even going to fix the problem

i still dont think its out of sync and think you would do better getting somebody uot to it with a lap top to read iot for you. i can give you a number for some body to do it for you. I think your just wasting your money just buying a sync mate..
