I'm sure I was badly missed over the last year and a half, it's been that long since I waved bye bye to my P38.
I had fought a four year battle with my beloved Range Rover. I needed to walk away for a while to lick my wounds.
Sanctuary was found in 2005 BMW 630I damned if it never broke down once, never even needed a part replaced in 30,000 Miles.
A while back every second car on the motorway here was an L322, I could only look on in envy.
But I just wasn't ready to get back on the roller coaster.
A friend of mine asked one day, have you noticed all the RR's have disappeared?
Once I began to look, there was a very obvious lack of Ranginess on the roads.
This panicked the Land Rover worm buried in my brain.
I have no idea where they have all gone, but I had to save one, the time was right.
The BMW is sold, picking up the 2005 Diesel RR on Wednesday!
Sure clean hands, spare time and a bit of change in your pocket is over rated.

Oh just have both! I've a 2005 650i which is a fantastic fast blast. And a p38 for when the slower approach is required!
 
Well the RR was cheap so the bank balance should run to an ashtray valet.
The 630 had to go to fund the new life ruiner, but not to worry I have an XJS for the high speed stuff.
I picked up the RR today, I'm sure the dealer almost crashed into a bridge abutment, on his way home, blinded by tears of laughter.

Anyway myself and this L322 have to make friends. So far everything works.
I had got to know the P38 inside out, so looking forward to seeing what makes this yoke work.
Initial impression, start up is quiet and refined, interior is very P38ish but nicer, seats are a little firm.
Feels like home looking out over the familiar sculpted bonnet, why did I stay away from an RR so long? ( I'm sure it'll be along to answer that question soon)

I'll post up some pics, if it ever stops raining.
Now gents my first question, is there a thread, or has anyone any opinions on, what diagnostics do I buy?
My budget is a bit low, but what are people using, the RSW stuff looks good, but it's expensive.
Is there any free download stuff like the EAS suite for the P38?

Well for the I ordered the RSW eas reset tool. it'll do for the moment, the eas caused most of the immediate problems of my P38.
Wish I had done a bit more research, the RR is complex electronically, that doesn't bother me and I had wanted to do some upgrades, like tv etc.
It seems I have a 2005 touchscreen non face lift model, BMW electronics with a Land Rover sticking plaster, it doesn't look like oem upgrades will be easy!

Anyway here is the beast, side steps removed can't abide them, sorry it's filthy.

The 22's look great but they make the ride very harsh, and I may go to 18's when it's time to replace the tyres.

Coming from a p38 you will find owning the L322 is a bit like hooking up with an old flame and pleasantly discovering she has had a boob job, everything sort of feels familiar and falls easily to hand, but you are aware it’s bigger and firmer and more of a handful. The old girl has put on a bit of weight mind, 500 Lbs more to be exact.

I think you will find that once inside, you will discover she has a designer vagina, botox, face lift, bum lift, new hair do and quite a few tattoos which are all nice additions but unfortunately she is more mental and far more complicated than she ever was..but still loves to get dirty:)

I aim to please but you will agree all true, the l322 has a penchant for fine dining and certainly needs a sugar daddy :)
