ave yer tried Sureterm Direct or NFU Mutual - they understand Landys.
I agree these guys are good for getting yourself insured and out on the road, but in the unfortunate event that you need to deal with an accident they are awful.
They are the broker, they use Prestige/Westminster to insure you, if you need to get them to deal with a claim like I had to do you need to phone 3 places and report the accident, each wanting the same boring story and details. However Sureterm didn't tell me this at the time and only told me to phone my legal people (who were the most helpful people out of all of them).
So 2 weeks later when I had heard nothing, but done a lot of chasing by phone and letter I call them to find out how the fight was going, to which they replied “have you told your insurer?”
I told them I had expected that this would maybe what my £150 for admin fees went towards, like them maybe sending a letter or fax or making a call and telling them for me.
I called Prestige/Westminster and they didn’t even know who I was! After some more calls I managed to log the accident with them then to be told that Sureterm should have done this!
Once everyone knew and everything was as it should be I then asked them to fight the claim for me (the woman won’t admit liability) and keep me in the loop, that was nearly 2 weeks ago – and I have fixed the Landy anyway!
Anyway – I will stay with them and I will stick with them next year if my renewal drops again (when they offer you the renewal don’t accept the first one; they will take about another £50 off it) – and fingers crossed I will never need to use them for a claim again, but when it comes to it I am not overly impressed with the service I got.
